FAQs
How many locations does the Silver Fox operate? Are there any differences between the locations?
We currently offer our services from two facilities, Silver Fox West and Silver Fox East. Silver Fox West was first established in 2007 and is located in Baldwinsville. Silver Fox East is our newest facility and is located in Manlius. To find out which location is right for you, click here for more information regarding navigation. Each facility offers the same relative activities, so figuring out the right location for you just depends on your transportation needs.
Is Silver Fox a medical practice?
Silver Fox is a Social Model Adult Day Program and not a Medical Model Adult Day Health Care. Although Silver Fox is not a formal medical practice, our staff consists of Certified Nursing Assistants, Home Health Aides, and a Registered Nurse, and is able to provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living such as toileting and transferring. While the Silver Fox does not diagnose, provide medical examinations or prescribe treatment to members, our staff work with members to care for their ongoing medical needs. While our staff can certainly offer advice from an experienced lens and even suggest members seek further medical attention regarding certain health concerns, the Silver Fox should not be misconstrued to as a formal medical operation.
Is there any assistance with transportation to and from the Silver Fox?
Both Silver Fox West and Silver Fox East work with Centro Call-a-Bus to coordinate transportation for our members if needed. To find out if you qualify for this door to door transportation service, visit call-a-bus. Transportation assistance may also be available through your county's Office of Aging, the Veteran's Administration, or your Medicaid Managed Long Term Care Insurance.
What type of activities are available to members at the Silver Fox? Are there any additional fees associated with specific activities?
Whether you need a bit of excitement or relaxation, Silver Fox provides members with an array of activities and accommodations to make your stay more enjoyable. Classic games, stories and shows are always available in addition to outdoor walks at our Baldwinsville location, dance sessions and prayer services. All activities are provided at no extra cost, withholding the services available through the on-site salon. For more information on our daily services or salon pricing, please refer to the sample activity calendar listed below.
Are there any facility tours or trial periods available to prospecting members?
Yes, we offer both facility tours and a free trial period to our members. To schedule a facility tour, please fill out this brief survey that will help you determine the right location for you and make your appointment. Our free trial periods are known as “Fox Family Fundays” where prospective members can pick a day of their choosing and enjoy free day of fun at the Silver Fox. How do I know if Silver Fox is right for me?
Whether you consider yourself a mom or grandma, dad or grandpa, spouse or loving friend— all are welcome to enjoy the activities, chef-prepared meals and caring environment provided by Silver Fox. Our professional staff work with a smile to accommodate assisted seniors with whatever support they may need. Several of our staff are New York State Certified Home Health Aides and ensure all are included in the Fox Family regardless of need or ability. Silver Fox is ultimately right for any assisted senior that feels they need the extra social, medical or physical support from the Silver Fox family, but should not be misinterpreted as an organization that offers specialized medical diagnoses or prescribes treatment. Silver Fox is also here for the caregiver, to provide much needed respite during this time. You can have peace of mind knowing that your loved one is taken care of in a safe and loving environment.
What is required of me before my first day at Silver Fox?
Before your first day at the facility, we ask that you fill out the paperwork found here and have a copy of your vaccine paperwork readily available for our records. Transportation concerns, medication plans and personalized care procedures are all sorted out before your loved one comes through the door for ease of mind, so simply follow the steps below to enroll.
