What being a member of Silver Fox is all about…
Build Confidence
Through engaging activities, gentle encouragement, and meaningful social interaction, our members rediscover what they can do — not what they’ve lost. Whether it’s participating in a group discussion, completing a creative project, enjoying light movement, or simply forming new friendships, every day offers opportunities to feel capable and valued.
Create Connection
Loneliness is one of the biggest challenges older adults face. At Silver Fox Adult Day Centers members become part of a welcoming community where friendships grow naturally. Shared meals, group activities, laughter, and daily conversation foster genuine belonging. Members aren’t just participants; they’re part of the Silver Fox family.
Support Independence
Our programs are designed to encourage ability, not replace it. Through structured routines, cognitive engagement, and gentle support, we help members maintain their skills and daily strengths for as long as possible. Families gain reassurance knowing their loved one is thriving in a safe, encouraging environment, not losing ground at home alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
A social adult day center is a structured daytime program for older adults who live at home but require supervision, support, and meaningful engagement during the day.
Silver Fox Adult Day Centers provides a safe, professionally supervised environment where participants receive social interaction, structured activities, nutritious meals, personal care assistance, and medication support as needed — while returning home each evening.
Social adult day centers can vary significantly in the level of assistance they provide. At both our Baldwinsville and Manlius centers, we offer a higher level of hands-on support, including help with personal care needs (including showering) and medication assistance, in addition to enriching daily programming.
Our structured routine supports cognitive stimulation, physical activity, and emotional well-being, while also providing families with dependable respite and peace of mind.
If you are exploring daytime care options, we welcome you to schedule a tour to learn how our program supports both seniors and caregivers.

Silver Fox Adult Day Centers is designed for older adults who live at home but require structured daytime supervision, personal care assistance, and clinical oversight in a supportive social setting.
We are often a strong fit for individuals who:
Have Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia
Have Parkinson’s disease
Are recovering from stroke
Live with mobility limitations or fall risk
Require assistance with toileting, transfers, or other personal care needs
Need medication assistance or monitoring during the day
Benefit from routine, supervision, and structured engagement
At both Silver Fox Adult Day Centers – Baldwinsville and Silver Fox Adult Day Centers – Manlius, we provide a comprehensive level of hands-on support within a social adult day program. Service levels can vary among programs, and our centers are equipped to care for individuals who require more than social interaction alone.
However, there are circumstances where a higher level of medical or behavioral care may be necessary. Individuals who require continuous skilled nursing care, are medically unstable, or exhibit behaviors that pose a safety risk to themselves or others may not be appropriate for a social adult day setting.
We carefully assess each prospective participant to ensure our program is safe, supportive, and beneficial for both the individual and the group. We encourage families to schedule a tour and consultation to determine if Silver Fox Adult Day Centers is the right fit.
-
Yes. Silver Fox Adult Day Centers is highly appropriate for individuals experiencing memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, or other forms of dementia — from early-stage cognitive changes through advanced and end-stage conditions.
Our staff have received specialized training in dementia care and understand the progression of cognitive decline. We provide structured supervision, cognitive engagement, personal care assistance, and medication assistance within a safe, supportive daytime environment.
We recognize that dementia affects each individual differently, and behaviors can sometimes emerge as needs change. If behavioral challenges arise, we do not simply give up. We work closely with the participant and their family to identify triggers, adjust routines, and implement thoughtful modifications that support success whenever possible.
Our goal is to maintain dignity, reduce anxiety, and provide compassionate care at every stage of the journey. We encourage families to schedule a consultation so we can determine how we can best support your loved one.
-
It is very common for older adults to feel unsure about attending a new program — especially if they are experiencing memory loss or changes in routine.
At Silver Fox Adult Day Centers, we approach transitions with patience, empathy, and experience. Our team understands that hesitation is often rooted in fear of the unknown, not refusal of support.
At both Silver Fox Adult Day Centers, we:
Introduce new participants gradually
Pair them with welcoming staff and peers
Establish consistent routines to build comfort
Focus on preferred activities and familiar interests
Communicate closely with families during the adjustment period
Many individuals who are initially reluctant begin to look forward to attending once they form relationships and feel part of the community.
If needed, we can also guide families on practical strategies for easing the transition, including language to use at home and how to establish a positive routine around attendance.
Our goal is not just participation — it is comfort, dignity, and a genuine sense of belonging.
-
Yes. Silver Fox Adult Day Centers offers flexible scheduling, but we do not offer traditional “half-day” rates.
We have one daily rate; however, participants may attend for the amount of time that is appropriate for their condition and their caregiver’s needs. While we recommend a minimum of four hours to allow meaningful engagement and routine consistency, families may choose arrival and departure times within our operating hours of Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Participants may attend as little as one day per week or up to five days per week, depending on the level of support required.
For individuals experiencing memory loss or dementia, we generally recommend attending at least two days per week. Consistency and repetition are important for cognitive stability, routine reinforcement, and successful adjustment.
During your consultation, we will help determine a schedule that best supports both your loved one’s well-being and your caregiving responsibilities.
-
Transportation options may be available depending on location, distance, and participant needs.
At Silver Fox Adult Day Centers, we understand that reliable transportation is often one of the biggest concerns for families. During your initial consultation, we will review your address, schedule needs, and level of assistance required to determine what options may be available.
If transportation is not available in your specific area, our team will work with you to explore alternative solutions and provide guidance on coordinating safe and dependable arrangements.
Our goal is to remove barriers whenever possible and make attendance consistent and manageable for both participants and caregivers.
We encourage families to contact us directly to discuss transportation availability and coverage areas in more detail.
-
Caring for an aging loved one can be deeply meaningful — but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. Silver Fox Adult Day Centers provides dependable daytime support so caregivers can work, attend appointments, manage household responsibilities, or simply rest and recharge.
Because we offer structured supervision, personal care assistance, medication assistance, and dementia-trained staff, families can feel confident that their loved one is safe, engaged, and supported throughout the day.
We also view care as a partnership. Our team communicates with families about changes we observe, behavioral patterns, and strategies that may improve success both at the center and at home.
Respite is not a luxury — it is essential for long-term caregiver health. By sharing the responsibility of care, we help families maintain balance while keeping their loved one safely at home for as long as possible.
-
Silver Fox Adult Day Centers provides a higher level of hands-on support than many social adult day programs, while maintaining a warm, community-centered environment.
In addition to structured activities and social engagement, we offer personal care assistance, medication assistance, and specialized dementia support delivered by staff who have received focused training in cognitive care. Our program is designed to support individuals from mild cognitive changes through advanced stages of dementia.
What truly sets Silver Fox apart is our commitment beyond the daily program.
We regularly host:
Caregiver trainings and educational workshops
Informational events in collaboration with local care partners
Community discussions focused on aging and dementia care
Our Executive Director serves on the board of Living with Dementia CNY and the New York Social Adult Day Service Association, ensuring that we stay informed on best practices, regulatory updates, and evolving standards of care. That knowledge is consistently shared with our team, keeping our staff educated, prepared, and current.
We are also deeply connected within the local healthcare and senior services community. If a family needs additional support — whether home care, legal guidance, support groups, or medical referrals — we are happy to help connect them with trusted community resources.
At Silver Fox Adult Day Centers, we are more than a day program. We are a knowledgeable partner for families navigating aging, memory loss, and long-term care decisions.
-
Absolutely! We strongly encourage families to schedule a tour — and we also offer a complimentary trial day so you and your loved one can experience Silver Fox Adult Day Centers firsthand.
In fact, we often recommend scheduling the tour and free day together. For some seniors, particularly those experiencing memory loss, it can be difficult to remember details from a visit or feel comfortable returning on a separate day. Combining the tour with a trial day allows your loved one to engage in activities, meet staff and participants, and begin building familiarity right away.
During your visit, you will:
Meet our team
Observe the daily routine
Ask questions about care and support
See how personal care and medication assistance are provided
Experience the environment in real time
Our goal is to make the decision process comfortable and informed — not rushed or pressured. The best way to understand what makes Silver Fox Adult Day Centers unique is to see it in action.
Contact us to schedule your tour and complimentary trial day. We look forward to welcoming you.
